Big Updates on Melody

Melody is now crawling! That didn't take long. Once kids get the idea into their heads it doesn't seem to take long to make the idea a reality. She also pulled herself up on Daddy, who was laying on the floor next to her last night. Then this morning the nanny found her standing up in her crib. Time to lower the crib!

I also noticed her drooling, and she gnawed on my finger something fierce. Sure enough, she has a couple tiny white dots on her lower gums, two teeth breaking through. One isn't even one of the two front teeth, it's off to the lower left. That should be pretty cute to see her with an off-center tooth.

I will try to get a low-res video of her crawling up soon. There is no way I am going to be able to photo the chompers until they have gotten quite a bit larger.

Bedtime Story

I was reading a book to Deena about all the things you can be when you grow up. I said to her, "Deena, maybe one day you can be a store-keeper." She thought about it for a second, got real happy and said, "And then you will have to pay me!"

Trying Something New

On Friday Julie called me at work and suggested ice skating as an idea to get out of the house and try something new. We figured Deena would either love it or hate it. Well, she really loved it, and couldn't get enough of me pushing her around the rink.

Deena wanted to try it on her own. Judging by the way she couldn't control her legs when I pushed her, it seemed like a ridiculous idea. At one point Julie asked if I would let her try by herself as well, and I explained to her Deena was just not ready.

Finally I got so sore and tired of bending down, I had to take a break. While I was talking to Julie by the boards, Deena saw her chance and promptly took off on her own. She managed to run five or six feet before falling. From then on she was doing her solo gig. Never underestimate your kids.

Melody is sitting up now!

It's been a few weeks now, but Melody is sitting up on her own and is quite happy with herself.
